To see the Mucross peninsula in Co Donegal, you take the shore road from Killybegs. Tralor Beach is a popular area for surfing. On the left of the painting is an old schoolhouse, which is now privately owned and used as a dwelling house. Birdwatchers, sightseers and climbers favour the area.
On Muckross Head, horizontally layered sandstone with intervening layers of mudstone, which have been eroded, makes this a challenging rock climbing location.
